She obtained her veterinary degree from Michigan State University and completed her internship and residency at University of Pennsylvania. Following her residency in small animal emergency and critical care medicine\, Dr. Beer worked in academia for several years as a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania and as an assistant professor at Michigan State University. Dr. Beer has been published in the JAVMA and JVECC\, and has made numerous research and textbook contributions. She is also actively involved in VetGirl.
